Monday, October 24th, 2022.
The bourse opened for business today. As it turned out, the government issued a belated notice that this Monday wasn't going to be yet another public holiday -- a celebration of #Diwali. But that didn't stop the usual frenzy of fireworks over Nairobi skies in the first three or four hours (or so) after sunset --particularly in Westlands and Parklands. There was indeed added frenzy in the works (and, one could tell, in the spirits of the celebrants), #RishiSunak (he with Indian and East African roots) having been declared, in faraway London, the new British Prime Minister.
Monday's trading floor nevertheless closed with mixed results. As we see below, CBshare's performance fell a notch to the third place, closing a further 0.22% down, at KES1,934.12 (or US$15.96, at a forex rate of KES121.20 per US$):

READ: Cytonn's Kenya Listed Insurance H1'2022 Report [Since (a) Unashig's stock holdings have an insurance component, and, (b) health insurance agency is part of Unashig's core activity, this Cytonn report has considerable relevance to Unashig shareholders]
SHAREHOLDERS ARE REMINDED THAT While share trading is not Unashig's core business, it is an important aspect of an enterprise such as ours. Unashig is a limited liability company registered under Kenya's Companies Act. It is wholly owned by its registered shareholders, currently numbering 249. Investing the amounts generated through the periodic sale of issued CBshares in dividend/income-generating ventures is a prudent and indeed surer way of growing the company. Surer, certainly, than spending it on routine office activities.
The average number of CBshares held per shareholder remains very low, however. This is not conducive to rapid capital/asset growth, or the generation of substantial and distributable dividend income. For over 12 months, the value of our CBshare has proven that Unashig's investment decisions continue to be competitive with, and quite frequently superior to, those pegged on the trajectory of any, or often all, of the three active NSE indices.
