Share Price and Market Capitalization at the Close of Specified Days of the Week

Friday, October 7th, 2022.

Three out of four key metrics displayed noteworthy recovery at today's close. But only next week's numbers will tell us if all this is going to hold, or is merely a teasing flash of the moment. The price of a CBshare made a relatively sharp gain (+1.31%), to close at KES1,916.55   (or US$15.85, at a forex rate still steady at KES120.90 per US$). CBshare's performance ranking remained unchanged, at the third position:

1. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): +2.18%
2. NSE 25 Index: +1.33%
3. CBshare price (25 counters): +1.31%*
4. NSE 20 Index: -0.04%.

KES1,916.55 is therefore the new price (plus related trading charges) at which a CBshare will be traded -- until 5:00 PM next Tuesday, October 11th (Monday being a public holiday).

Unashig's market capitalization also gained 1.31%, to close the day at KES6,427,373.50 (or US$53,162.73).

On a Week-on-Week performance basis, all the the metrics closed on a negative note, as follows:

2. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): -1.63%
3. NSE 25 Index: -2.17%
4. NSE 20 Index: -2.38%.

YTD, the price of a CBshare is 16.64% down, while Unashig's  market capitalization is 14.48% lower. But we wait to see if these numbers are, already, tell-tale signs in the horizon of some improvement.

Thursday, October 6th, 2022.

All four metrics continued to be stuck in a dipping mode, agitated by the flight of foreign investors to 'safety' and the looming end of a fairly bumper dividends 'season'. The price of a CBshare fell less sharply, at -0.60%, to close at KES1,891.83 (or US$15.65, at a forex rate that remained unchanged at KES120.90 per US$). The price of a CBshare fell 1.08%, to close at KES1,903.16 (or US$15.74, at the forex rate of KES120.90 per US$). Still, its performance ranking stayed put at the second position -- as we see below:

1. NSE 20 Index: -1.04%
2. CBshare price (25 counters): -1.08%*
3. NSE 25 Index: -1.49%

SHAREHOLDERS ARE REMINDED THAT While share trading is not Unashig's core business, it is an important aspect of an enterprise such as ours. Unashig is a limited liability company registered under Kenya's Companies Act. It is wholly owned by its registered shareholders, currently numbering 249. Investing the amounts generated through the periodic sale of issued CBshares in dividend/income-generating ventures is a prudent and indeed surer way of growing the company. Surer, certainly, than spending it on routine office activities.

The average number of CBshares held per shareholder remains very low, however. This is not conducive to rapid capital/asset growth, or the generation of substantial and distributable dividend income. For over 12 months, the value of our CBshare has proven that Unashig's investment decisions continue to be competitive with, and quite frequently superior to, those pegged on the trajectory of any, or often all, of the three active NSE indices.
