For the third day in a row, CBshare and the four NSE indices that we routinely track fell -- and, what's more, relatively significantly. Clearly, the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine, and its ripple effects on diplomacy and global trade, have much to do with the current stock market unease. Still, savvy investors will find in all this downward slide ample opportunities to buy quoted stocks "on the cheap" for long-term gain.
CBshare dipped 2.54%, closing at KES2,228.17 (or US$19.57, at the forex rate of KES113.88 per US$). Like the indices, however, it retained the position -- third, in its case -- which it held yesterday, as the list below shows:
2. NSE 25 Index: Down 2.53%
3. CBshare price: Down 2.54%*
4. FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index: Down 3.15%
5. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): Down 3.62%.
Unashig's market capitalization also declined 2.54%, ending the day at KES 7,369,907.50 (US$64,716.43).
YTD, the price of a CBshare dipped 3.08%, while market capitalization fell 1.94%.
From the benchmark numbers recorded on December 31st, 2020, CBshare climbed 8.60% at today's close, while market capitalization gained 32.55%. Still, both these figures are lower than we saw yesterday.
