South African Music: Le Piano by Miss Wavy x DJApple SA ft Ntosh Gazi (20221):

Play Le Piano {Video}
[South Africa]

This song, Le Piano, was released – directly, presumably, on YouTube on September 18th, 2021. Over this past weekend, plainly! Straight off the oven, then!

I ‘bumped’ into it, for the very first time, early today -- September 21st, 2021 – ‘coincidntally’ just after doing a Google search on the word Amapiano. It's something I have been meaning to.

I had been wondering why there was a music sub-genre by that name, when I had not heard distinct piano sounds in any of the songs so dubbed, that I had listened to. It is in Le Piano that I have heard, for the first time, the instrument given due prominence – and its sound waves definitively ‘etched’ – in an Amapiano song. What we hear here are super fine vibes, too. Case closed, then.

Lighthearted as it is, Le Piano is a truly artistic production, both to the ear and the eye. It is a fun song, too. A silky ode to its versatile and, from now on, perennial namesake -- as I think -- it will be around, finely blended with our times and voices and memories, for a good while. Such a memorable encounter in the middle of everything!

Share Price and Market Capitalization on Specified Days of the Week:

Friday, September 24th, 2021.

CBshare retreated another 0.16% to close at KES 2,488.37 (or US$ 22.54, at the unhealthy but unchanged forex rate of  KES 110.40 per USD). Like CBshare, all four of the usual indices closed lower and in different positions, as the ranking given below suggests:

1) CBshare Price: Down 0.16%*
2) FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index: Down 0.19%
3) NSE 25 Index: Down 0.21%
4) NASI (NSE All Share Index): Down 0.29%
5) NSE 20 Index: Down 0.31%.

Incidentally, the downward trends highlighted above occurred on a day when, as Dyer&Blair market report highlights, "Foreign investors assumed a net buying position, accounting for 40.72% of total market purchases and 40.69% of total market sales."

On a WoW (Week-on-Week) basis, here is how performance by the indices lined up relative to CBshare: 1) NSE 20 Index (down 1.05%), (2) CBshare Price (down 2.13%), (3) NSE 25 Index (down 2.41%), (4) NASI (down 2.70%), (5) FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index (down 2.78%).

CBshare is clearly finding its way in all this flux, and earning some recognition. YTD, its price has gained 21.83% in value. Value addition engenders respect.

Like CBshare, Unashig's market capitalization closed 0.16% lower, at KES 8,010,335.00 (or US$ 72,557.38). YTD, it closed at 44.07% on the shape-shifting growth curve. Since December 31st, 2019, it has hit the 372.20% point.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL INVESTORS, WHEREVER YOU MAY BE: The price of a CBshare will hold at KES 2,488.37 (US$ 22.54) -- plus statutory and brokerage charges approximating 2.23% over-and-above the direct cost of CBshares bought at a given time -- until 5:00 PM (GMT+3) on Monday, September 27th. A new price willbe released, after some 'mining', early or later that Monday night.

CBshare picked itself up a little today, closing 0.13% higher at KES 2,492.38 (or US$ 22.58, at the still sinking forex rate of KES 110.40 per USD). Indeed, recent headwinds turned tailwinds for one more NSE index as well, giving us this new ranking:

1) NSE 20 Index: Up 0.15%
2) CBshare Price: Up 0.13%*
3) NASI (NSE All Share Index): Up 0.07%
4) FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index: Down 0.01%
5) NSE 25 Index: Down 0.09%.

The price of a CBshare closed 22.03% higher, YTD, underscoring an enduring gain. Its resilience continues to manifest itself.

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021.

CBshare fell again, but, at -0.10%, less steeply than recorded yesterday. It closed at KES 2,489.13 (or US$ 22.57, at a forex rate that had dropped even more to KES 110.30 per USD). As usual, four NSE indices and CBshare's price movement captured today's goings-on at the bourse from different angles. They are ranked below according to how their respective "baskets of securities" performed at the bourse, or reflected the bourse's overall performance:

1) NSE 20 Index: Up 0.19%
2) NASI (NSE All Share Index): Unchanged (i.e. 0.00%)
3) NSE 25 Index: Down 0.10%
3) CBshare Price: Down 0.10%*
5) FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index: Down 0.29%.

YTD, the price of a CBshare closed at the 21.87% point on the growth curve. But this was slightly lower than yesterday's closing level of 21.99%.

Unashig's market capitalization closed 0.10% lower today than yesterday's level, at KES 8,012,775.50 (or US$ 72,645.29). YTD, it closed with a 44.11% gain -- a point on the growth curve which was lower than we saw at ysterday's close. Since December 31st, 2019, it has made a gain of 372.34%.

Tuesday, September 21st, 2021

CBshare fell yet again, closing 1.19% lower from yesterday, at KES 2,491.59 (or US$ 22.61, at the unchanged forex rate of KES 110.20 per USD). The number of shareholders and shares outstanding remained steady as well, at yesterday's level.

Like the CBshare price, more importantly, the usual NSE indices remined in negative territory. However, as we see in the ranking below, they outperformed CBshare -- just as it has outpaced some or all of them in the recent past:

1) NSE 20 Index: Down 0.86%
2) NSE 25 Index: Down 1.51%
3) FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index: Down 1.76%
4) NASI (NSE All Share Index): Down 1.89%
5) CBshare Price: Down 1.91%.*

All the metrices went down because the company-by-company "portfolios" of stocks which they variously aggregate and track dropped across-the-board to a greater extent than they gained. There are also grounds to attribute this dip to the fact, obliquely noted by Dyer&Blair today, that foreign investors -- with their market-moving power (reinforced with an unrivaled capacity to sell "at a loss" often mitigated by a strong foreign currency) -- "assumed a net selling position by accounting for 3.06% of total market purchases and 92.09% of total market sales." Indeed, key stocks -- such as Safaricom, Equity, KCB, Jubilee, EABL, BAT and Standard Chartered -- sold lower today, for no intrinsic or self-evident reasons.

All that said, Smart Money domiciled locally must surely know, already, that the dips caused by the periodic (and temporary) departures of foreign investors present ample opportunities to grow long-term value and competitiveness by "buying low" -- or steadily/continuously -- and holding for the long-term.

YTD, the price of a CBshare closed a little lower on the curve, at 21.99%, than it did yesterday.

Unashig's market capitalization closed 1.91% down, compared to yesterday's close, at KES 8,020,696.50 (or US$ 72,783). It closed this Tuesday with a 44.25% gain, YTD; but this was also a lower point on the year's growth curve than we saw yesterday. Counting from December 31st, 2019, it closed today with a 372.81% gain.

Monday, September 20th, 2021.

CBshare declined 0.10% to close at KES 2,540.03 (or US$ 23.05, at a disappointing forex rate of KES 110.20 per USD). The number of Unashig's shareholders and shares outstanding remained constant, and therefore had no effect on the closing price.

Like CBshare's price, all the four familiar NSE indices dipped. However, CBshare outperformed them all, as each of them fell rather more noticeably. The ranking below gives the details:

1) CBshare Price: Down 0.10%*
2) NSE 20 Index: Down 0.22%
3) NSE 25 Index: Down 0.52%
4) FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index: Down 0.56%
5) NASI (NSE All Share Index): Down 0.61%.

YTD, CBshare's price has recorded a 24.36% gain, even though the tip of the growth curve pointed downward at the close.

Unashig's market capitalization closed 0.10% lower as well, to KES 8,176,621.00 (or US$ 74,198.01). YTD, it has recorded a 47.06% gain -- which represents a dip on the curve as well, compared to last Friday. Since December 31st, 2019, this market capitalization closed the day with a reduced gain of 382.00%.
