Share Price and Market Capitalization at the Close of Specified Days of the Week:
Friday, January 28th, 2022.
After four straight days of negativity -- by no means an eternity -- CBshare rebounded 0.35% to close at KES 2,253.31 (or US$19.84, at a lately static forex rate of KES 113.55% per US$). What we saw from another view, at the close, was built-in momentum rearing its stubborn and yet under-rated head.
Market capitalization also rose 0.35%, to close at KES 7,453,074.00 (US$65,636.94). Three out of four indices, as well as CBshare, trended upward. Here is how they all ranked:
1. FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index): Up 0.64%
3. NSE 25 Index: Up 0.57%
4. CBshare price: Up 0.34%*
5. NSE 20 Index: Down 0.20%.
Reconfiguring performance on a Week-on-Week (W-o-W) basis gives us the following ranking:
2. NSE 25 Index: Down 1.53%
3. CBshare price: Down 1.77%*
4. FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index: Down 1.93%
5. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): Down 2.20%.
YTD, CBshare has dropped by 1.99%, while market capitalization has shed 0.83%. Looking farther back to the baseline date of December 31st, 2020, we see that CBshare has gone up by 9.83%, and market capitalization 34.04% up.
SUMMARY: CBshare is now priced at KES 2,253.31 (US$19.84) -- plus (for trading purposes) statutory and brokerage charges ranging from approximately 3.55% of the price of one share to 2.26% of the price of 10 shares bought at the same time. That price will remain steady over the weekend and until 5:00 PM (GMT+3) Monday, January 31st. A new price will be released early or later Monday night.
Thursday, January 27th, 2022.
Stock markets around the world are currently going through a pretty rough patch, due in considerable part to the interest rate angst emanating from investors' sense of the direction that the US Fed, led by Chairman Powell, might take in the coming days. Stock indices are plunging. Foreign investors are retreating en masse from emerging/frontier markets -- and consequently dipping share prices virtually all around as demand plunges. But that's an explanation, not an excuse, for what is happening at the NSE. For us, "buy the dip" should be a rallying call. But old habits die hard, and so it goes. Opportunities beg, in futility, for agile takers.
CBshare fell another 0.62% at today's close, to KES 2,245.47 (or US$19.78, at the forex rate of KES 113.55 per US$). All four NSE indices that we track also declined, but relatively less steeply than the price of a CBshare, as the latest ranking shows below:
2. NSE 20 Index: Down 0.20%
2. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): Down 0.20%
4. FTSE NSE Kenya 25 Index: Down 0.25%
5. CBshare price: Down 0.62%.
Unashig's market capitalization retreated 0.53% to close at KES 7,427,154.00 (US$65,408.67).
The price of a CBshare has so far dipped 2.33%, on a YTD basis. During the same period, market capitalization has declined by 1.18%; but this is only about half as severe as CBshare's fall. However, we do see a rosier picture when we look at trends since December 31st, 2020. With this date as the baseline, CBshare price has so far risen by 9.54%, and market capitalization by 33.58%.
SUMMARY: CBshare is now priced at KES 2,245.47 (US$19.78) -- plus (for trading purposes) statutory and brokerage charges ranging from approximately 3.55% of the price of one share to 2.26% of the price of 10 shares bought at the same time. That price will remain steady until 5:00 PM (GMT+3) Friday, January 28th. A new price will be released early or later Friday night.

3. NSE 25 Index: Down 0.72%

Unashig's market capitalization closed 0.33% down as well, at KES 7,466,879.00 (or US$ 65,758.51). We could do significantly better if we had a steady inflow of investible cash from shareholders.

However, market capitalization has weathered the storms rather more effectively, declining by 0.32% during the period. On the other hand -- with December 31st, 2020 as our baseline -- CBshare has so far made a 10.50% gain. Market capitalization has done even better, closing today 34.74% higher.

3. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): Down 0.32%
3. NSE 20 Index: Down 0.32%
