Share Price and Market Capitalization at the Close of Specified Days of the Week.

Friday, March 24th, 2023.

CBshare couldn't keep up with the other three metrics today, being the only one that fell (-0.32%) -- even as the bourse's total valuation stayed put at KES1.73 Trillion. It closed at KES1,716.31 (or US$13.08, at a marginally weaker forex rate of KES131.26 per US$). Here's how the indices ranked today:

1. NSE 20 Index: +0.34%
2. NSE 25 Index: +0.28%
3. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): +0.02%.
4. CBshare price (25 counters): -0.32%*.

*** KES1,716.31 is the new price at which a CBshare will sell -- until 5:00 PM Monday, March 27th, 2023. As usual, however, a buyer will need to add to that price the standard stock-market trading charges that apply -- that is, 3.55% of the price of each share up to a total of 9 per purchase -- and in keeping with Unashig's pegging principle.

Unashig's market capitalization also dipped by 0.32%, to close at KES5,929,197.00 (or US$45,171.39, at the day's forex rate).

YTD (Year-To-Date), the price of a CBshare signaled some weakening at today's close -- by posting an even steeper decline (-9.52%) than we saw yesterday. Likewise, Unashig's  market capitalization weakened further to -7.59%, YTD.

On the other hand, the market capitalization of Nairobi Securities Exchange (the Bourse), as a whole, was unchanged at -12.63% today, as it remained stuck at KES1.73 Trillion.

Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021, Unashig's market capitalization has now recorded a rather more pronounced dip (-21.11%), given NSE's comparative valuation today. NSE's market capitalization, on the other hand, was unchanged today (-32.68%), compared to yesterday.

Thursday, March 23rd, 2023.

All indices maintained the upward climb witnessed since Tuesday. The bourse's total valuation also rose, to KES1.73 Trillion. The pegged price of a CBshare gained another 0.46%, to close at KES1,721.78 (or US$13.11, at a weaker forex rate of KES131.30 per US$). However, CBshare's ranking dropped from first to second, as we see below:

1. NSE 20 Index: +1.147%
2. CBshare price (25 counters): +0.46%*
3. NSE 25 Index: +0.28%
4. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): +0.05%.

Unashig's market capitalization also grew by 0.46%, to close at KES5,948,080.50 (or US$45,301.45, at the stated forex rate).

YTD (Year-To-Date), the price of a CBshare implied some positive gain at today's close -- by posting a lower rate of decline (-9.23%) than we saw yesterday. Likewise, Unashig's  market capitalization eased/improved to -7.30%, YTD.

The market capitalization of Nairobi Securities Exchange (the Bourse), as a whole, pared some of the downward drift -- as it jumped higher to KES1.73 Trillion. However, its progression, YTD, remained in the negative (-12.63%).

Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021, Unashig's market capitalization has now recorded a smaller dip (-20.86%), given NSE's new valuation. For the same reason, NSE's market capitalization has shrunk a little less (to -32.68%) than we saw yesterday.

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2023.

Yesterday's positive run of the indices continued across the board. This was patently enabled by today's marginal rise in the bourse's valuation to KES1.72 Trillion. The price of a  CBshare gained a further 1.21%, to close at KES1,713.88 (or US$13.09, at a lower forex rate of KES130.90 per US$). As a result, CBshare's ranking also rose -- to the first position, as shown below:

1. CBshare price (25 counters): +1.23%*
2. NSE 25 Index: +1.14%
3. NSE 20 Index: +0.97%
4. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): +0.87%.

Unashig's market capitalization grew by 1.21% as well, to close at KES5,920,774.00 (or US$45,231.23, at the stated forex rate).

YTD (Year-To-Date), the price of a CBshare indicated some improvement by way of a lower rate of decline (-9.65%) at today's close. By the same reasoning, Unashig's market capitalization also improved to -7.72%, YTD.

The market capitalization of Nairobi Securities Exchange (the Bourse as a whole) was still down (-13.31%), YTD, as well -- despite some gain as its valuation jumped to KES1.72 Trillion at the close.

Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021, Unashig's market capitalization has recorded a smaller dip (-21.22%), given NSE's new valuation. For the same reason, NSE's market capitalization has shrunk a little less (-33.07%).

Tuesday, March 21st, 2023.

All four indices closed the day on a positive note, spearheaded by a spike in the bourse's latest valuation to KES1.71 Trillion. CBshare gained a further 2.14%, to close at  KES1,693.33 (or US$12.98, at an even weaker forex rate of KES130.50 per US$).  CBshare's ranking also ticked upward -- from third to second, as seen below:

1. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): +2.68%
2. CBshare price (25 counters): +2.14%*
3. NSE 25 Index: +1.49%
4. NSE 20 Index: +0.27%.

Unashig's market capitalization went up 2.14%, to close at KES5,849,807.00 (or US$44,826.11, at the prevailing forex rate).

YTD (Year-To-Date), the price of a CBshare recovered some, but still closed down (-10.73%). Unashig's market capitalization closed down as well (-8.83%), YTD, despite some recovery since yesterday's close.

The market capitalization of Nairobi Securities Exchange (the Bourse as a whole) was still down (-13.64%), YTD, as well -- despite some gain as its valuation jumped to KES1.71 Trillion.

Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021, Unashig's market capitalization has recorded a smaller dip (-22.17%), to-date, given NSE's new valuation. Likewise, NSE's market capitalization has shrunk a little less (-33.46%) during the period, riding on NSE's latest, shilling-based, valuation.

Monday, March 20th, 2023.

The bourse started the new week on a fairly positive note, with three indices closing in positive territory. Among these was CBshare, which regained some of its verve (+0.59%) to close at KES1,657.83 (or US$12.75, at the unchanged forex rate of KES130.00 per US$). Indeed, as we see in the ranking below, only NSE 20 Index continued on a downward trend,  CBshare's ranking dropped from second to third:

1. NASI (NSE All-Share Index): +3.50%
2. NSE 25 Index: +1.27%
3. CBshare price (25 counters): +0.59%*
4. NSE 20 Index: -0.51%.

Unashig's market capitalization jumped 0.62%, to close at KES5,727,151.00 (or US$44,055.01, at the prevailing forex rate).

YTD (Year-To-Date), the price of a CBshare fell, but rather more moderately (-12.60%) than seen last Friday. Unashig's market capitalization shrank as well (-10.74%), YTD, but displayed some relief from last Friday's relative depth.

The market capitalization of Nairobi Securities Exchange (the Bourse as a whole) shrank less severely (-16.16%), YTD, its valuation having improved to KES1.66 Trillion at the close.

Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021, Unashig's market capitalization has recorded a smaller dip (-23.80%), to-date, given NSE's new valuation (KES1.66 Trillion). Likewise, NSE's market capitalization has shrunk a little less (-35.41%) during the period, riding on NSE's latest, shilling-based, valuation.

SHAREHOLDERS ARE REMINDED THAT While share trading is not Unashig's core business, it is an important aspect of an enterprise such as ours. Unashig is a limited liability company registered under Kenya's Companies Act. It is wholly owned by its registered shareholders, currently numbering 249. Investing the amounts generated through the periodic sale of issued CBshares in dividend/income-generating ventures is a prudent and indeed surer way of growing the company. Surer, certainly, than spending it on routine office activities.

The average number of CBshares held per shareholder remains very low, however. This is not conducive to rapid capital/asset growth, or the generation of substantial and distributable dividend income. For over 12 months, the value of our CBshare has proven that Unashig's investment decisions continue to be competitive with, and quite frequently superior to, those pegged on the trajectory of any, or often all, of the three active NSE indices.
