Share Price and Market Capitalization on Specified Days of the Week:
Friday, May 7th, 2021: Share Price and Market Capitalization at Close of Trading Day:
Trading ended the week today on a very positive note for Unashig, with its share price closing on a new high of KES 2,306.52 (or US 21.62, at a forex rate of US$1:KES106.70 in which the Kenyan currency continued to show some relative strengthening). Compared to yesterday's numbers, today's closing price represented a 0.31% gain -- which was only a little lower than the NASI index (0.34%) and more noticeably higher than the NSE 20 index (i.e. 0.04%). In all this churn, local investors were essentially onlookers, accounting for only 12.97% of the share purchases and 19.88% of all the share sales.
YTD -- that is, since December 31st, 2020 -- the Unashig share price has recorded a 12.93% gain. It has also maintained a growth curve above 12% for the last 8 trading days in a row.
UPDATE (May 9th): Inferring from the latest Cytonn Unit Trust Report, released on May 9th, Unashig's share price performance YTD, as already reported above (i.e. +12.93%), exceeds the performances recorded by Kenya's three indexes, that is: NASI (+12.5%), NSE 25 (+9.3) and NSE 20 (-0.5%).
No Unashig shares were bought today. However, Unashig bought some shares quoted on the NSE.
Market capitalization closed 0.31% higher, displaying a new value of KES 6,961,342.50 (or US$ 65,242.20), YTD, it has grown by 25.20%. Since December 31st, 2019, it has reached a new high, with a cumulative gain of 311.34%.
With the growth momentum detectable in Unashig's portfolio of quoted shares, and with additional investing by shareholders, we are likely to go past the KES 7 million milestone any day soon -- and then on to KES 8m.
IMPORTANT NOTE: No trading takes place on the NSE on weekends or public holidays. Consequently, until the close of trading at 3:00 PM (GMT+3) on Monday, May 10th -- and the release by NSE of the day's stats approximately 60 to 90 minutes thereafter -- KES 2,306.52 (or US$ 21.62) plus the official brokerage and statutory charges adopted in the Unashig Share Pricing Formula will prevail as the price of a CA or CB share sold by the company.

Unashig's share price dipped negligibly (-0.02%) today to close at KES 2,299.35 (or US$ 21.53, at a forex rate of US$1:KES 106.80, which also signaled a marginally eroded greenback). The NSE 20 Index declined by 0.01%, while NASI recorded a 0.48% markup. Unashig's share price slightly underperformed both on this day, but without any cause for worry. Local share traders were once again net sellers on the bourse (59.10% of all selling), and accounted for only 10.28% of will prevail as the price of a Unashig CA or CB share sold by the company.
Since December 31st, 2020, the share price has gained 12.58% in value -- thus extending to seven days in a row a healthy growth rate in the range of 12% to 13%.
Some Unashig shares were bought today, but Unashig did not buy any quoted shares today. It will make a modest purchase tomorrow, however.

On a YTD (Year-to-Date) basis, on the other hand, capitalization has grown by 24.81%. Since December 31st, 2019, this valuation has appreciated by 310.06%. We continue to work toward a good show on December 31, 2021.
Wednesday, May 5th, 2021: Share Price and Market Capitalization at Close of Trading Day
The share price recorded a 0.25% gain today over yesterday's closing number, and settled at KES 2,299.73 (or US$ 21.44, at the unchanged forex rate of US$1:KES107.25). Today's NSE 20 Index closed with a 0.88% gain, according to broker Dyer & Blair's data, showing that the index outperformed Unashig's gain somewhat more than marginally. Displaying a 0.22% erosion in value for the day, NASI was on the other hand outdone by Unashig.
YTD (that is, Since December 31st, 2020), the share price has appreciated by 12.59%. This extends a growth rate in the range of 12% to 13% to six trading days in a row.
No Unashig shares were bought today, nor did Unashig buy any quoted shares at the bourse. Overall, Kenya-based share traders were net sellers at the NSE, accounting for only 16.26% of the day's buys but 62.24% of the selling. Tuesday, May 4th, 2021: Share Price and Market Capitalization at Close of Trading Day
The share price closed today at KES 2,293.89 (or US$ 21.39, at the forex rate of US$1: KES107.25). This was a 0.39% decline from yesterday's closing price (KES 2,302.90) -- even as the US dollar coincidentally weakened by 0.42%. Dyer & Blair figures show that Kenya's NSE 20 Index dipped even more steeply (0.67%) today; while the NASI index dropped more moderately than both (0.27%).
YTD (Year-to-Date), the value of the Unashig share price has risen by 12.31%, thus maintaining a gain of over 12% for five trading days in a row. This continues to signal a more attractive yield than is to be found locally in the typical bond offering.
A few of Unashig's CB shares were bought today, thus adding a little weight to the denominator in the share pricing template. Unashig did not buy any quoted shares. The number of outstanding shares now stands at 3,014.11.
Market capitalization closed at KES 6,914,037.00 (or US 64,466.55, at an exchange rate which slightly favored the Kenyan Shilling (maybe we should just call it Shilingi, until we find a better name). This represented a 0.33% drop since Monday. YTD, however, capitalization has jumped by 24.35%. Since December 31st, 2019, it has grown by 308.55% -- thus more than tripling in value.
Monday, May 3rd, 2021: Share Price and Market Capitalization at Close of Trading Day
Compared to the closing price last Friday, Unashig's share price rose by 0.26% and closed today at KES 2,302.90 (or US$ 21.38, at the forex rate of US$1 = KES 107.70). This was a better performance than displayed in the NSE 20 (NSE 20-Share) index, which dropped by 0.45% during the same period. However, Unashig marginally underperformed NASI (Nairobi All Share Index), which (as reported by Dyer & Blair) had a 0.27% gain. Let us pause to ponder this point: there is no share quoted on the NSE with a price higher than (or even close to) Unashig's privately held CAs and CBs. But one supposes that there are privately-held shares in Kenya with much higher unit valuations than Unashig's. We will seek to find out.
YTD, the share price has chalked up a 12.75% gain, thus extending a growth performance of over 12% for four days in a row, or 5 days out of the last 6. Indeed, it is a trajectory which beats typical bond yields in the Kenyan securities market (and, indeed, in the US as well). However, we will have to wait for whole-year stats for more conclusive comparisons. Stay with us as we watch these trends.
Some Unashig shares were privately bought after Friday's close, and Unashig acquired some shares on the NSE during today's trading. The number of outstanding CA and CB shares now stands at 3,012.11.
Unashig's market capitalization closed at KES 6,936,595.50 (or US$ 64,406.64), showing a 0.59% gain over last Friday's closing level. YTD, it has grown by 24.76%. Since December 31st 2019, it has grown by 309.88% -- the highest level so far -- thus maintaining a trajectory of over 300% since April 26th, 2021.
