Share Price and Market Capitalization at the Close of Specified Days of the Week.
Friday, July 28th, 2023.
All four indices closed this Friday, and week, in the negative, with NASI (-1.97%) falling relatively sharply in the ranking -- from first to fourth -- but, ironically, with NSE 20 Index (-0.27%) surging from fourth to first place. CBshare (-1.13%) retained the second position, though its price fell to KES1,750.87 (or US$12.30, at the forex rate of KES142.40 per US$):

*** KES1,750.87 (US$12.30) is CBshare's new trading price. This will hold until 5:00 PM, Monday, July 31st, 2023. As is the practice at the Nairobi bourse (and in keeping with Unashig's pegging principle), a buyer will need to add to the stated price the standard stock trading charges that apply at the NSE -- that is, 3.55% of the price of each CBshare bought (up to 9 CBshares in one day's transaction).
Unashig's market capitalization depreciated at the same rate (-1.13%) as CBshare, to close at KES6,062,577/- (or US$42,574.28, at today's forex rate).
YTD (Year-To-Date), the price of a CBshare dropped further (-7.70%), compared to yesterday's closing level (-6.64%). Unashig's market capitalization also dipped (-5.51%), YTD, compared to yesterday's performance (-4.43%) YTD. Market capitalization at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, as a whole, also recorded a further loss (-17.17%), compared to yesterday (-15.15%), YTD.
Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021 -- when Unashig closed at KES7,515,735.50 -- Unashig's market capitalization closed lower today (at -19.33%), compared to yesterday's level of -18.41%. Market capitalization at the NSE as a whole also Weakened (-36.19%), compared to yesterday's level (-34.63%). The stock market's valuation fell back to Wednesday's closing level (KES1.64 trillion).

Three indices crawled back to positive territory today, with NASI (+2.07%) leap-frogging from fourth place to first in the ranking scheme; and, as shown below, NSE 20 Index (-0.51%) flipping backwards to fourth place today -- from first place yesterday. CBshare (+0.27%) retained the second position, its price rising to KES1,770.92 (or US$12.45, at a steady forex rate of KES142.24 per US$):

3. NSE 25 Index: +0.16%
4. NSE 20 Index: -0.51%.
Unashig's market capitalization appreciated at the same rate (+0.27%) as CBshare, to close at KES6,132,000/- (or US$43,110.24, at today's forex rate).
On a YTD (Year-To-Date) basis, the price of a CBshare improved somewhat (-6.64%), compared to yesterday's closing level (-6.89%). Unashig's market capitalization also recorded a gain (-4.43%), compared to yesterday's performance (-4.68%), YTD. Market capitalization at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, as a whole, also showed some gain (-15.15%), compared to yesterday's number (-17.17%), YTD.
Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021 -- when Unashig closed at KES7,515,735.50 -- Unashig's market capitalization closed today -18.41%, compared to yesterday's level of -18.63%. Market capitalization at the NSE as a whole also improved, though marginally (-34.63%), during the period, compared to yesterday's level (-36.19%). The stock market's valuation returned to Tuesday's level (KES1.68 trillion).

The downward trend seen yesterday continued today across all four indices. In terms of relative performance, however, NSE 20 Index (-0.49%) retained the top position, as shown below. CBshare (-0.65%) climbed from third position to second. However, its price dropped to KES1,766.21 (or US$12.42, at a weaker forex rate of KES142.24 per US$):

On a YTD (Year-To-Date) basis, the price of a CBshare dropped further (-6.89%), compared to Tuesday's level (-6.27%). Unashig's market capitalization also weakened (-4.68%), compared to yesterday (-4.06%), YTD. Market capitalization at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, as a whole, dropped as well (-17.17%), compared to yesterday's level (-15.15%), YTD.
Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021 -- when Unashig closed at KES7,515,735.50 -- Unashig's market capitalization showed some gain today (-18.41%), compared to yesterday's loss level of -18.63%. Market capitalization at the NSE as a whole also dipped (-36.19%) during the period, seen against yesterday's level (-34.63%). The stock market's valuation plunged even more today, closing at KES1.64 trillion (compared to KES1.68 trillion yesterday.

The loss regime continued to encumber all the metrics today. CBshare (-1.26%) dropped to third position. It was displaced from the top by NSE 20 Index (-0.34%), and overtaken by NSE 25 Index (-1.16%). Its price closed lower as well, at KES1,777.82 (or US$12.52, at a 'continued' forex rate of KES142.05 per US$):

On a YTD (Year-To-Date) basis, the price of a CBshare edged even lower today (-6.27%), compared to Monday's level (-5.08%). Unashig's market capitalization also slid (-4.06%), compared to yesterday's performance (-2.83%), YTD. Market capitalization at the Nairobi Securities Exchange, as a whole, weakened as well (-15.15%), as opposed to Monday's level (-13.13%), YTD.
Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021 -- when Unashig's valuation closed at KES7,515,735.50 -- Unashig's market capitalization dropped further today (-18.09%), compared to yesterday's level of -17.05%. Longer-term market capitalization at the NSE as a whole also dipped (-34.63%), weighed against yesterday's number (-33.07%). The stock market's valuation plunged today, closing at KES1.68 trillion. It has been falling every trading day since last Tuesday -- but hasn't gone below KES1.70 trillion, as it did today.
Monday, July 24th, 2023.
All four metrics closed with a loss on the first trading day of this new week. However, as we see below, CBshare maintained its top ranking (-0.29%) -- for the third day in a row. Negative performance has dogged the indices since last Tuesday. We wait to see how tomorrow goes. The price of a CBshare closed slightly lower, at KES1,800.50 (or US$12.68, at an even weaker forex rate of KES142.05 per US$):

Looking farther back to end-of-year 2021 -- when Unashig's valuation closed at KES7,515,735.50 -- Unashig's market capitalization closed lower (-17.05%). Longer-term market capitalization at the NSE as a whole declined (-33.07%). The stock market's valuation was lower at KES1.72 trillion. It has been falling every trading day since last Tuesday.
SHAREHOLDERS ARE REMINDED THAT While share trading is not Unashig's core business, it is an important aspect of an enterprise such as ours. Unashig is a limited liability company registered under Kenya's Companies Act. It is wholly owned by its registered shareholders, currently numbering 249. Investing the amounts generated through the periodic sale of issued CBshares in dividend/income-generating ventures is a prudent and indeed surer way of growing the company. Surer, certainly, than spending it on routine office activities. The average number of CBshares held per shareholder remains very low, however. This is not conducive to rapid capital/asset growth, or the generation of substantial and distributable dividend income. For over 12 months, the value of our CBshare has proven that Unashig's investment decisions continue to be competitive with, and quite frequently superior to, those pegged on the trajectory of any, or often all, of the three active NSE indices.
