MUSIC: Kruzz Excels in "Bad"

Hey! You start watching Bad and listening keenly to all that chanting, and all the fine music, and you get hooked in seconds for all your time's worth. This Dubai-based Nigerian artiste has a real talent sprouting here. Showing us Kenyan number plate KCG 670X is Director Enos Olik's way of telling us that the video was shot in his country. A great video. Great locations.

Depending on the listener, the lyrics are both mesmerizing and confounding: "Keke na pe-po!" And the chaos of not-so-random chanting of mostly familiar memes becomes truly integral to the fine music that we're treated to: "Digi Bum/DigiDigi Bum/Digi BumBum!"

"Love me jeje,
Love me tender"

The chorus -- "this is too much" -- will surely have a temporary 'juju' effect on all who seek leisure in such a place as this set offers: "Fata Mata(!), Okoroko/ Shakara, Okokoro/Waka Waka, Otoroto/Foster..., Bu Photokoto/".

All this gibberish is, beguilingly, art. A moveable art form.

The accompanying melody and beat have a lulling quality, too; and slyly lace the se-se-duction. It's all really, really catching. Though set in the background, the music's intended effect on the 'body politic' quietly reveals itself. Wallahi!

Negative and Positive Feedback

Negative feedback is always a good thing, negating as it does the deviation-inducing negativities that populate the environment and subvert the true (the chosen) path. It is not what it otherwise seems, being far from the picture of it that jargon paints in our minds.

Positive feedback, on the other hand, is not so unequivocal: being a good thing sometimes (when what it reinforces is a priori 'good'), and sometimes a bad (when what it touts is itself 'bad'). It eggs you on along the path you're already on, regardless of the consequences, and will not prompt a change of direction -- even if there are dangers ahead. Positive feedback, then, is a stranger to adjustment, if adjustment is not what it receives and so feeds back, as it sleeps with a some-time enemy -- status quo.
