SOLAR STORMS: Mars' Slow Puncture

Interesting report here. While both planets Earth and Mars are hit by solar winds blowing at amazing speeds directly from the sun, the consequences for the two planets are extraordinarily different. The earth's magnetic field(s) constantly shield its atmosphere from being blown away by solar winds, and so keeps us safe. On the other hand, the absence of such fields around Mars has condemned it to a never-ending, epic loss of oxygen, carbon dioxide and other 'airs' from its atmosphere.

Two Big Questions, then:
1) When will the last "breath" of air leave Mars, or does it have an air-factory deep inside?
2) Can science of the future help Mars re-build its magnetic field, or is living on Mars a pipe dream of the ignorant?
